Sexual Persuasions and Perceptions

I have been asked many times since here on dA if I am a lesbian. I have seen this same question posed on most Images posted here showing two women together, even if they are not demonstrating any sexual connection. I have seen emotive works referred to as “gay”. I have seen those publicly speaking of their own sexuality referred to as freaks, and informed that they are bound for hell, if they dare to not conform to the “accepted” choice. I have seen a lot. And it interests me.

What are the “classifications”, hmmm?? What ARE our options?? We have Straight (VERY popular), we have Bisexual (more popular if this is between women), we have Lesbian (very popular if they are both hot... although they are usually consigned to hell in the end... with a thank you for the titillation), we have Gay (popular in Yaoi, but for the most part only looked at secretly and denied any validity... also consigned to hell... and deservedly so according to many), and then we have Transgender... often designated as freaks, misfits, and (dare I say it... ) DEVIANTS!! *gasp * (and in actuality having nothing to DO with sexual persuasion, but instead with gender designation).

So. What am I?? None of the above actually. Do you know why? Because I do not “classify” my love for others. I love whom I love. Male, Female, Transgender... what difference does that actually make? Please be VERY honest here, my friends... and you know what? You don't even have to state it out loud... BUT... think to yourself... what IS love??

Books have been written on the Topic, of course. Wars fought, babies made, and lives lost...

Here is a well known excerpt from the Bible, even:

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
I Corinthians 13:4-8

I see no specified sexual persuasion here. If you love someone... you love them. And ALL of the Lesbian, Bi, Gay, Transgender, and Straight friends that I have, happen to demonstrate the above qualities of Love in their own lives... because they are good people.

Some people however, need a form of qualification... a guideline, or measuring rod so to speak... so for those of you who wonder, I can be referred to as Pansexual [link] . If I love another woman, if I love a man, if I love someone who is transgender... I love them. I will share ALL of myself with them without reservation, without shame, and without regret. They are my friend. They are precious to me. They are a fellow human with whom I have a deep bond. Period. You will see me in public, holding hands, kissing (sometimes deeply) whomever I am with that I love. I do not hide behind closed doors. Ever. I refuse to apologize for loving my fellow human. Woman. Man. Transgender. We are all PEOPLE here, my friends.

We ALL need love, we ALL need acceptance, we ALL need affection, we ALL need validation, and we ALL need to be free... free to be who and what we are. Without judgment, without fear... and without loss.

Do you have feelings that make you uncomfortable? Ask yourself why. Can you tell a friend of the same sex behind closed doors that you love them, can you kiss them and hold them... and then in public feel a need to assume a distance from them?? WHY?? To please WHOM?? This is a betrayal of YOURSELVES. AND those whom you love. And the longer it takes for us to “come out”, the longer it is going to be until more people can admit that love is love. There is NO shame... none whatsoever. Be PROUD of who you are, and the choices that you make... do not judge those of another choice... ACCEPT freely ALL others.

I know many of you that are Straight and have dear friends that are not... and I know many of you that are NOT and have dear friends that are Straight!! THIS is beautiful to me!! Acceptance!!

Let's get some perspective here... let's play “what if” for a moment. What if Straights were considered the freaks? The unacceptable?? The untouchable?? The deviant?? What if Straights were destined to hell if they revealed that they could be attracted to the opposite sex??

Think about that please, the next time you find yourself in the company of someone who is "wired" differently than yourself. Do you realize the STRENGTH it takes to openly state your sexual persuasion when it does not “conform”??? Do you have any idea what it feels like to be told you are going to burn in fiery torment for simply loving another human being?? For LOVING??

What is the purpose of this Journal? Am I asking for all of you to spill your own sexual perspectives and/or realities? No. I am merely asking you to think... and to support fully, without judgment, ALL persuasions. Straight?? Cool!! Bi?? Yay!! Lesbian?? Wonderful!! Gay?? Fantastic!! Transgender?? Woo Hoo!! Pansexual?? Hell Yeah!!

We are all together in this, my friends... in one way or another. Let go of the “ predisposed ” thinking. Accept. Embrace. Let go of fears... and please just be happy... and allow others the freedom to be happy as well...

Along the top of the strips are alternate patches of black and dark grey. If it looks solid black to you (look very carefully), your monitor's brightness setting is too low. Increase it until you can -just- perceive the difference between the grey and the black squares.

Pan-sexual doesn't fit you, I don't think. "Pan" is just 'far-reaching,' Shy, and while I've never actually met you in person, from pictures and essays and such I just don't think "pan" works.

Lovely perspective and I pretty much feel exactly the same way.
I'm a lesbian. I went to a church for about three years, and they finally found out and made me step down from all of the leadership positions.
Disicrimination of any kind is wrong...
They looked at me as if I was choosing to be sinful.
I'd been trying all of my life to change myself because I've always heard that i was going to Hell.
I never chose it.

But now, I've accepted who I am and am not only HAPPY for once, but I LOVE myself for once! It's beautiful.
